Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency
For your information, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency's Proclamation concerning the use of crossbows during the big game seasons has been recently modified. This proclamation now allows hunters who are 50% permanently disabled in either a hand or arm, or those hunters who are 50% permanently impaired in upper body functions in accordance with the standards outlined in the "Guide to Evaluation of Permanent Impairment Rating" published by the AMA, to hunt with the use of the crossbow. The proclamation still allows for hunters who permanently require the use of crutches or a wheelchair to hunt with a crossbow during the big game hunting seasons. The modifications in the proclamation also allow for those hunters who are 50% temporarily disabled in either a hand or arm, or those hunters who are 50% temporarily impaired in upper body functions in accordance with the standards outlined in the "Guide to Evaluation of Permanent Impairment Rating" published by the AMA, to hunt with the use of the crossbow during the big game hunting seasons in which the temporarily disability exists. The proclamation also includes those hunters who temporarily require the use of crutches or a wheelchair during the big game seasons to hunt with a crossbow. An official form must be signed by a physician or licensed therapist in order to be valid. Once signed, this form becomes your authorization to hunt with a crossbow instead of archery equipment during the big game hunting seasons. The form must be carried on your person at all times when acceptable. FOR OFFICIAL APPLICATION, PLEASE WRITE TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, CALL (615) 781-6647. |
