LICENSE
EXEMPTIONS:
Resident disabled veterans
with 60 percent or more disability.
Any person legally blind or
physically impaired who is unable to properly use fishing apparatus and one accompanying
companion while he or she is fishing.
Any patient of a State
institution in Oklahoma established for the care and treatment of mental illness or
alcohol and drug dependency or any person developmentally disabled, residing in any group
home or other institution or persons developmentally disabled when accompanied by an
attendant of such institution or legal guardian or when fishing on institutional property.
Residents having a proven
disability rendering them non-ambulatory and confined to wheelchairs as certified by a
duly qualified physician.

Hunting Regulations
LICENSE
REQUIREMENTS:
Crossbow Permit: a
$5, 5-year permit for the hunting or taking of deer during the regular archery season with
crossbow may be issued to applicants who have a permanent disability to the extent that
they cannot physically use a conventional longbow as certified by a medical doctor
licensed to practice in this state.
A $5, lifetime permit may
be issued only to amputees with the complete loss of at least the thumb or first finger of
the bow hand or the index, first , and ring finger of the draw hand. This permit shall
allow the taking of deer during the regular archery season. Hunting with a crossbow
without a permit is prohibited. A legal crossbow is defined as having a minimum draw
weight of 100 pounds. Bolts must be equipped with broadhead hunting type points not less
than 7/8 inches wide and bolts must be equipped with safety devices. Laser sights and
electronic tracking devices are prohibited. Leverage gaining devices are permitted. No
crossbow may be transported in a motorized vehicle unless uncocked or disassembled.
Disabled Hunting
License: Persons who have resided in Oklahoma for at least six months and who are
receiving Social Security disability or Supplemental Security Income benefits or both may
purchase a 5-year disability hunting license for $10.
Nonambulatory Permit to
Hunt from a Motorized Vehicle: A 5-year permit to hunt or take wildlife with the aid
of a motor driven vehicle may be issued to residents who are unable to walk due to a)
single double leg amputation; b) paralysis of lower extremity(ies); and/or c) disease or
injury and must use a wheelchair as their primary source of mobility, as certified by a
medical doctor licensed to practice in Oklahoma, are eligible to receive a nonambulatory
permit for use on Dept.-managed lands. Use of a motor vehicle for hunting is intended only
as a means of facilitating access. During the actual taking of any wildlife, the vehicle
being used by the permittee must be stopped and the engine must be turned off. Off-road
use of a vehicle on public lands by a nonambulatory permittee is authorized only on lands
specifically designated as open for such activity. Areas open to off-road use may be
obtained from Dept. headquarters in Oklahoma City.
Nonambulatory Permit to
Hunt from a Motorized Vehicle: A 5-year permit to hunt or take wildlife with the aid
of a motor driven vehicle may be issued to residents having a permanent disability which
confines them to a wheelchair, or requires the use of crutches, a walker or other means of
support or assistance for body mobility as certified by a medical doctor licensed to
practice in Oklahoma. Use of a vehicle on public lands by a motor vehicle permittee is
authorized only on roads/trails specifically designated as open for such activity.
Off-road travel by a motor-vehicle permittee is prohibited.

EXEMPTIONS:
Resident veterans 60
percent or more disabled, so certified by the Veterans Administration, are exempt only
from the purchase of the hunting license.
Resident veterans 100
percent disabled, so certified by the Veterans Administration, are exempt from the
purchase of the hunting license and all deer gun permits (not exempt from archery or
muzzleloading deer permits). Veterans should contact the Veterans Administration for an
exempt license.
Residents having a proven
permanent disability which renders them nonambulatory and confines them to a wheelchair,
as certified by a medical doctor, are exempt from the hunting license.
Physically-Challenged
Archery Hunt
Applicants must possess
either a nonambulatory motor vehicle or crossbow permit issued by the Oklahoma Dept. of
Wildlife Conservation which must be purchased before applying for controlled hunts.
Selected applicants must report by 8:00 a.m. on the Thursday preceding their hunt to
attend a pre-hunt briefing. Failure to attend this briefing will result in cancellation.
Hunt ends at noon on Sunday. Only traditional type bows (long bows or recurve bows) or
crossbows allowed. Minimum bow weight of 40 lbs. at 28 inches of draw. Compound bows are
prohibited. All hunters must be at least 14 years of age. Hunters under 18 years of age
must be accompanied by an adult. Hunters may bring an assistant. Assistants will be
allowed to transport hunters to and from the field and/or stands, but will not be allowed
to hunt. Assistance will be provided for others as needed. Bag limit will be (1) deer of
either-sex, plus (1) either-sex turkey. Walk-in only. No motor vehicle access. Hunters are
required to attend a mandatory pre-hunt briefing at refuge headquarters at 1:00 p.m. on
Friday.
